ROBIN HOOD MATINEES (article first published : 2007-11-17)

Sunday afternoon matinees have been scheduled for the 11th annual adult pantomime, Robin Hood, in response to public demand. The production is currently running at the Seabrooke’s Theatre at DHS over the festive season until New Year’s Eve.

“Yes, boys and girls,” say the organisers, “After many years happily spent sullying the memory of our best loved fairytales, this year’s festive adult pantomime takes us back in time to the legendary green Sherwood Forest - before they smoked the green, ran a freeway through it and attempted to rename it after an obscure Libyan camel-breeder.

"Of course, this being pantomime there’s bound to be more G-strings twanging than bow strings but, rest assured, the familiar faces will all be there. Friar Tuck (Thomie Holtzhausen) - yes folks, yet another clergyman who believes in drink, sex and the occasional bout of recreational robbery. Little John (Rowan Bartlett) the six foot serf every Durban Salt Water Girl dreams of, and naturally the beautiful self-made Maid Marion (Clare Mcilroy – the sister of the bald, noble, prize-winning actor) and her lean green love-machine Robbin’ Robin of the Hood (Sean de Klerk - no relation of the bald Nobel prize winning politician).”

For the first time the panto is written and directed by Anthony Stonier who also appears in the production.

Matinee performances will be held on November 25 and December 9 and 23 at 1800 and on December 2, 16 and 30 at 1430. There will be a pensioner rate of R70 per seat at the Sunday afternoon performances at 14h30.

Tickets for normal production times are R85 (no students or pensioners discounts). All bookings at enquiries on 074 190 6239. Booking also through Ticket Connection on 074 190 6239 or 0861 121 333 or visit Www.Ticketconnection.Co.Za
