BILTONG & POTROAST STARS FOR KZN (article first published : 2007-08-23)

If you remember Biltong and Potroast, the hit TV series from 1976 that pitted local comedians against their British counterparts, then you definitely cannot miss the reunion of the self proclaimed “old farts”, Mel Miller and Tony Stewart. These two South African funny men will be appearing at Le Domaine in Hillcrest on August 26 for a once-off comedic laugh fest. Aptly entitled Biltong and Potroast, the show revolves around the politics and mind set of South Africans presented by this outrageous, side splitting duo.

With over sixty (60) years experience of show business between them, the two have gained a cult following who have tracked their careers across South Africa and internationally. With appearances as far a field as Israel, the Channel Islands, Houston (Texas, USA) and England, the well known pair has been firmly ensconced in the South African comedy circuit for the last three decades. Local spots on the Comedy Showcase and the Smirnoff Comedy Festival have ensured that they have remained at the top of the favourite’s list for fans of the genre.

The Sunday evening performance at Le Domaine is set to be an event to remember with Miller and Stewart lampooning South African idiosyncrasies. As Miller puts it “we have proudly bred politicians and public figures who have consistently raised the standards of ineptitude to a whole new level.”

Join Mel Miller and Tony Stewart in the Biltong and Potroast Comedy Show at Le Domaine on August 26 at 14h00. Tickets R50 available from Le Domaine on 031 716 8017.
