LECTURER JOB AT RHODES (article first published : 2007-06-27)

Rhodes University in Grahamstown invites applications from suitably qualified candidates and, recognising that diversity is important in achieving excellence, especially encourages South African members of designated groups for the following position from January 2008: Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer in Drama.

The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the departmental research and teaching programme at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The post requires a specialist in theatre research/practice-as-research and related research methodologies. Expertise in theatre making, performance and/or pedagogy and Theatre in South Africa would also be recommendations. These areas of expertise could include acting, applied theatre, contemporary performance, creative writing for the theatre, devised theatre, environmental theatre, improvisation, and/or site specific performance.

Candidates must have at least a Masters qualification, a research profile and preferably, publications. Further recommendations include professional experience in the theatre industry, and experience in coordinating and administering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within a University department.
