HOOK'S TREASURE: LET THE HUNT BEGIN (article first published : 2007-06-20)

Hook's Treasure: Let the Hunt Begin is a delightfully colourful family production presented by Eeny Meeny Miny Mo Entertainment Company at the iZulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom.

Written and directed by Dean Bennewith and choreographed by Janine Bennewith, this children’s production promises to pump and jive to the coolest of tunes and incorporates a whole host of fairytale characters including Pinocchio, The Three Pigs, Snow White and the seven dwarfs and, of course, Peter Pan.

Dean Bennewith plays Captain Hook along with Janna Ramos Violante (The Lady of the Boat/Siren), Janine Bennewith (Peter Pan) Carrie Ann Williams (Snow White); Tae Polly (Pinocchio and one of the Three Little Pigs), and Pamela Gray and Revaska Govender (as the other little pigs).

Inspired by the adventures of To Never Land this production is set on a pirate ship. The production opens with the ship trapped in a ferocious storm. The mean and evil Captain loses everything: his treasures, his crew and his supplies. He realizes that he is not much of a pirate without any treasure. He has heard that pirate Jack Sparrow has hidden treasure in Coconut Cove on an island. So he heads off the find the treasure. Before he can do this, he has to capture a host of other fairytale characters to help him.

Enter superhero in green - Peter Pan – who comes to rescue the captured crew. Peter, along with the Lady of the Boat or Siren and the captured fairytale characters, convince the Captain that if he becomes good they help him find his own treasure that he lost in the storm. Of course, he agrees and together they all set sail.

Hook's Treasure: Let the Hunt Begin runs from June 30 to July 15 Mondays to Fridays at 11h00 and Saturdays and Sundays at 11h00 and 13h00. Tickets R60 (R45 students, pensioners and children under 12).

Booking is through Sibaya Box Office on 031 580 5555.
