AFRIKAANS DRAMA SWEEPS THE BOARDS (article first published : 2000-08-22)

In the 1999/2000 FNB Vita awards year, the Afrikaans drama Ek, Anna van Wyk has won a total of 14 FNB Vita Awards around the country. These have been for a variety of categories.

For her astounding performance, Antoinette Kellerman received the award for Best Lead Actress in Durban, Bloemfontein and Cape Town. In Durban and Bloemfontein, it received Best Production, Best Director for Marthinus Basson and Best Lighting Design for Bryan McNeilage. Dawid Minaar won the Best Lead Actor award in Bloemfontein and Gauteng.

The Durban awards also honoured Brian Webber with Best Support Actor and Nicola Hanekom Best Support Actress while Ben Kruger won Best Support Actor in Bloemfontein.

While it didnít win any awards in the Cape Town region, the show was nominated for Best Lead Actress (Antoinette Kellermann) and Best Director (Marthinus Basson)
