HITS AUDITIONS (article first published : 2007-05-1)

The Highway Intimate Theatre is to hold auditions for its next play, So What Do We Do About Henry?, written by Charlotte Hastings. The play is set in the present in a Cornish Cottage on a cliff top, in a village a few miles from Plymouth.

When Henrietta Ellis's companion of thirty years dies, leaving her just £500 and four bottles of – admittedly very good – brandy, her nephew Dino, a charming, talented but lazy artist, invites her to live at Gull Cottage with him and his girlfriend Elsie. It seems that the rest of the family are unsure what to do about Henrietta (or Henry as she is known). Once Henry has settled in at the cottage, however, it turns out to be more a case of what Henry is doing about everyone else! In the nicest possible way, Henry organises the lives of those around her, enabling them to realise their full potential, and fulfilling her own at the same time.

“There are some wonderful characters in this play, everyone is most welcome to come and audition, all ages are needed from 25 years,” says HITS representative Clare Hoogervorst.

Auditions take place in the downstairs room of the New Germany Bowling Club on May 7 from 19h30 for 20h00. The cash bar will be open and a car guard will be on duty in the car park.

Directed by Margaret Lauf, So What Do We Do About Henry? will run from July 26 to 28 and again from August 2 to 4. Everyone is most welcome to come and audition, all ages are needed.

More information from Clare on 031 767 0244.

Please note that Highway Intimate Theatre is an amateur production in the sense that performers do not receive remuneration.
