THE BEST KEPT SECRET…SHHHHH (article first published : 2006-12-4)

From the Dingalings Production Company that presented Faraway Forest last holidays comes an exciting new children’s play called The Best Kept Secret … Shhhh to be staged at Kwasuka Theatre.

“This new production is a delightful romp through the lives of our characters as they try to save the children’s dreams and wishes for a wonderful holiday,” says Kumseela Naidoo. “Once again the production is highly interactive with the children, and parents, being encouraged to participate.”

The play deals with the dreams and wishes of children being stolen by the horrid Frazzlefoot, played by Henry Ramkissoon. The others attempt to save these from the baddie and go through a series of adventures to capture Frazzlefoot and save the dreams.

The talented cast includes very experienced performers like Vivian Moodley - who has performed, written and directed dozens of productions - as Mr Grumblewump. He is constantly arguing and fighting with his wife Mrs Grumblewump played by Yasmin Seedat, another experienced performer.

Others in the cast include Nirvana Naidoo who made her debut in Faraway Forest as Cristabel; Bianca Naidoo who is making her debut in this production as Nosey Parke, and Henry Ramkissoon who is fast gaining popularity as a stand-up comic and performer as Frazzlefoot.

The production also includes the husband and wife team of Kumseela and Koobeshen Naidoo. Kumseela plays the bumbling hero Tiddlewinks who manages to capture the baddie and save the dreams and wishes. The play is written and directed by Koobeshen Naidoo who with other members of the cast writes and directs the Lotus FM Radio Drama SA Law.

This is the first children’s production at the Kwasuka since the theatre’s revamp and it runs from December 12 to January 6 daily at 11h00. Shows Tuesday to Sunday (no shows on Monday). Tickets R45 include a Festive Goody Bag from Game City and a pony ride after the show in the park across from the theatre. Tickets R30 for the show only.

To book call Thandeka on 031 305 6889. Catalina Theatre and Kwasuka Tickets are now available online at www.strictlytickets.co.za or on our website at www.catalinatheatre.co.za or at www.goingplacesSA.co.za / www.goingplacesSA.com
