CINDERELLA & BROTHERS GRIMM (article first published : 2006-12-2)

Great news for youngsters in Durban this festive season, the Actors Co-Operative is back in force with two delightful family shows, Cinderella and Tales From The Brothers Grimm. Each runs daily from December 1 to 24 at the Campbell Collection Amphitheatre in the gardens of the Killie Campbell Museum, corner Marriott and Essenwood Roads.

Garth Anderson's fresh new production of Cinderella can be seen daily at 11h00. Produced in line with his iZinganekwane story series, Anderson's enchanting production gives the much-loved Cinderella fable a topical slant, and engages young theatregoers with its mix of fun entertainment and plenty of interaction with the actors onstage.

The talented cast includes Kim Sanssoucie as Cinderella, with popular newcomer Clinton Small reprising his role of Narrator, among other parts, following his highly popular mid-year appearances in Sleeping Beauty.

Others in the cast are Raessa Abdul Karrim, Mpume Mtombeni, Adam Doré and Andrew Kerr. Each plays a variety of roles in this high-energy show that has young audience members riveted to their seats. A colouring-in competition will be held at each performance.

Back by popular demand at the same venue, master of the genre Anderson himself returns to the spotlight daily at 14h00 in a new season of his acclaimed Tales from the Brothers Grimm. This features enactments of Rumpelstiltskin and Little Red Cap, two best-loved stories from the world famous story collection.

Ticket for each show cost R50 (R40 for children). Bookings on 084 422 1422.
