RADIO DRAMA (article first published : 2006-07-15)

Do you have a good imagination, a flair for mimicry, a clear speaking voice and - even better - a talent for accents?

The world is full of talented people with a strong capacity to act but who – for one reason or another- are not able to pursue a career on the stage. Acting for radio is the purest form of acting, as it were, as there is no place to hide. No sets, costumes, make-up, props, stage or beautiful lighting.

All the actor should have is a strong imagination and a capacity to produce a character from that imagination. Link it to the script and transfer it to the microphone to reach the listener’s ears and connect with his or her own imagination, thus sparking off a scenario that is as different to every listener as their own DNA.

If you're interested in trying your hand at radio drama then contact Peter Gardner at Troubadour Productions on 083 225 7934 or 031 209 2817/8 for an audition. No acting experience - either on stage or radio is necessary.
