SA VS OZ (article first published : 2006-03-19)

A one week international comedy tour is to be staged at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom from March 24 to 31.

The East Coast Radio International Comedy Invasion -S.A vs OZ will feature international Australian and South African comedians battling it out for laughs in the Izulu and Krakatoa venues every night at 20h00. The show is billed as both an "international showcase" and having "Edinburgh Fringe" styled fringe shows.

UpnUnderComedy.com is the Northern Hemisphere's only South African-promoted comedy production company. Based in London, highlights include hosting the first ongoing SA comedy night in London (2004-2005) and during the London Comedy Festival; taking South African showcase Free South African Comedians to the International Fringe Festival 2005 (sold-out run). The organisation has brought international acts to South Africa, and put SA local acts on the bill to a sold-out crowd of 2,000 at the Playhouse in Durban in 2005.

Young Australian favourite Mickey-D is back by popular demand from last year’s September sold-out Invasion tour where he hosted three nights. From Adelaide, he has toured his home country, the US and is resident in the UK - the world's hardest circuit. He has done four Edinburgh Fringe shows and recently returned from the Melbourne comedy festival.

Julia Wilson was a bouncer for 10 years and has now turned to stand-up where she uses her sharp hard-hitting wit to share her life's stories with hilarious reactions. UpnUnderComedy believe women are as funny as men and she is here to prove it!

Chris Forrest (aka Joe from the Sasol adverts) is the dead-pan man on the programme. Billed as having the demeanour of a sloth, and mind of a genius, he is set to impress.

Glen Bo, a young South African based in the UK working the international comedy scene, is back after dislocating his shoulder on stage last year. His manic passionate material is a sure-fire result of years in dark Britain where he flies the South African flag as one of the very few South Africans who brave the Brits, Scots and Welsh and doesn't give in.

Also appearing are Al Prodgers, David Kabuka, Roni Madimula and other acts.

Book at Computicket. More information from UpnUnderComedy.com/ECR.co.za/
