FOUR DING-A-LINGS AND A DING (article first published : 2006-03-7)

ENACT Theatre Company’s highly successful and hilarious comedy, Four Ding-a-Lings and a Ding, will be presented at the Tongaat Town Hall on March 17.

The production has enjoyed sold-out performances at the Suncoast's Supernova and community theatre venues. It has been well received at all the venues it has played in, from Richards Bay to Port Shepstone and Pietermaritzburg. The show has also raised funds for Highway Hospice to the value of R18,000 and is committed to playing in community-based halls and theatres. It does carry an age restriction of 18, due to language and some content. However, the group affirms that it is neither offensive or crude but rather a frank and decidedly amusing take on Indian culture and its interaction with society at large.

Four Ding-a-Lings and a Ding boasts the talents of the effervescent Kumseela Naidoo who, in one of her roles, plays Fiona Coyne in a spoof of the popular television series The Weakest Link. Also involved are Henry Ramkissoon, Kubeshan Naidoo and Vivian Moodley. The music is live and performed by well known one-man band Ravi Subramoney of Cool Jam.

Four Ding-a-Lings and a Ding is successful because it has something for everyone. It includes stand-up comedy, live music and dance and lampoons other popular television programmes like Crossing Over With John Edwards, Jerry Springer and Survivor. The show is crafted and directed by the ever-popular Yugan Naidoo, whom audiences will recall having seen in the hit comedies Too Muckin Futch and Lataas FM.

Four Ding-a-Lings and a Ding takes place in the Tongaat Town Hall on March 17 at 20h00. This is the last performance in the North Coast before it goes on a nationwide tour. Tickets available from Dekkers Restaurant and Take-Away. Patrons are advised to book early. Further details from Vivian on 084 760 1096 or 031 2056421.
