MENTOS CLOSE TO ENDING (article first published : 2005-10-24)

The Mentos International Comedy Festival - presented by East Coast Radio is currently running at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom until October 30.

Durban audiences are reportedly in a riot of laughter as the antics of these 13 comedians from around the world converge on Sibaya each evening to present a festival of completely crazy, off-the-wall and seriously outrageous comedy.

The festival is held in two venues. The iZulu Theatre features Ian Stone (UK) as MC, Junior Simpson (UK), Glen Wool (Canada), John Fothergill (Ireland), Tarun Mohanbhai (New Zealand/India), and Cokey Falkow (SA). For want of a better description - this is the safer venue. Pure Munate star Loyiso Gola from Johannesburg has also just joined the line-up.

Then - hold on to your hats – ‘cos the Danger Zone is an extreme comedy spot, strictly adults only, and completely outrageous. The larger than life Canadian Greek Angelou Tsaroukas (Canada) leads the team comprising Jim Jefferies (UK), Eddie Ifft (USA), Pierre (USA) and Bevan Cullinan (SA). This is also the venue to catch the much-talked about insane comic Phil Nicol from Canada who literally rips up the place and will has audiences screaming for more.

The shows run nightly at the iZulu Theatre from Mondays to Saturdays at 20h00 and Monday to Saturdays at Krakatoa at 20h30. On Sunday, the international comedians battle it out in a fast and furious comedy showdown in the "Best of the Best" at 18h00.

Tickets R85 per show and bookings can be made through Computicket or 031 580 5555.
