MORON THAN OFF (article first published : 2005-06-11)

In celebration of Youth Day, the Theatre - St Anne's College will present a performance of MORON than OFF by Aldo Brincat.

This production is in celebration of the silent comedy clowns of yesteryear: from Buster Keaton through to Charlie Chaplin, and for good measure, a few contemporary stalwarts in the form of Uncle Fester Adams and Mr Bean. The play is a deceptively simple production that showcases vaudevillian gadgets, gizmos and sight gags forgotten to a modern generation. (To even mention one of the routines would be to give away a gem.)

Suffice to say, this show will leave audiences gob smacked and tickled all at the same time. There is plenty of magic, mime and music and is an ideal production to be enjoyed by old and young alike in the celebration of Youth Day.

Aldo Brincat is a Durban based theatre artist and an experienced performer, specializing in comedy, mime and physical theatre. His previous shows at the Theatre-St Anne's College include Defending the CaveBrats and Frank's Circus Adventure. He is taking Moron than Off to the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in July.

The performance takes place on June 16 at The Theatre - St Anne's College at 19h00. Tickets R30 booked through Toni on 033 343 3300.
