The latest show staged by the aspirant young performers in the Catalina Youth Mentorship programme is Rush-in Ru-Let which runs at the Catalina Theatre in Wilsonís Wharf from January 18 to 30.

The Catalina Youth Mentorship programme has been mentoring young talent successfully for the last two years. Last January, the programme successfully staged their new workWherz it @ which had a short highly acclaimed season at the Catalina Theatre. This was followed by the ever-popular Dahlings which was the culmination of the theatre for young people training module.

The Catalina Theatre Mentorship programme runs 16 week modules training and exposing the youth of Durban in all aspects of the performing arts as part of the ongoing development programme of The Catalina Theatre. Potential candidates are auditioned before commencing the training module which culminates in a production. Funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy, the last module was specifically designed for creative writing. The students were mentored by a variety of Durban writers and theatre specialists and the result is Rush-in Ru-Let.

The plot revolves around a graduate film student called Robbie who has decided to enter a film competition and moves into Hyde Park Mansions, a block of flats in Point Road, where all sorts of interesting characters and misfits are brought together in potentially explosive circumstances.

Rush-in Ru-Let runs at Catalina Theatre, Wilsonís Wharf, from January 18 to 30 with shows Tuesday to Saturday at 19h30. Tickets R25 (R15 concessions). Book at 031 305 6889
