ISIGCINO NGESAMI (article first published : 2004-09-7)

Artist Productions, supported by the National Arts Council, Isolezwe and the Stable Theatre are currently presenting Isigcino Ngesami, a dramatisation directed by Skhumbuzo Nsele of the grade 12 school set novel originally wrtitten by SG Zulu .

Isigcino Ngesami is about a conservative father who would not hear of his beloved daughter, Thoko, marrying an albino, Sifiso. The father wants Thoko to find a job to pay off all the money he spent for her to study at University before she can involve herself in love-related matters. The story unfolds when Thoko decided to follow her heart.

Skhumbuzo Nsele started his career as an actor on various productions such as Jerry Pooe’s Animal Farm and appeared on the international stage with Welcome Msomi’s Umabatha. He is a talented voice-over artist and has featured on a number of Ukhozi FM’s radio dramas like the current Maluju Ma Afrika, as Mancane. Recently Nsele scooped the Best Newcomer (Actor) award in the 2003/2004 Durban Theatre Awards.

Isigcino Ngesami will be staged at the Stable Theatre from September 6 to 11 with two shows per day: 12h00 (for learners) and 18h00 (general public).

Tickets R15. Block bookings are welcome. For bookings, Schools may contact the Stable Theatre during office hours on (031) 309 2513 or Skhumbuzo Nsele on 082 216 4522.
