DOUBLE TROUBLE (article first published : 2004-05-11)

The first play of the evening will be Runaway, an intriguing play featuring Warren Gorringe and Kevin Sprong. The play deals with Simon, a neurotic curator of his family's heirlooms. He is passionate about the past, which his brother, Hugo, isn't. Hugo has relegated the collection to the Dower House on the family estate, which he inherited and has appointed Brinstead to live there with Simon to keep an eye on him. Adding to the scenario is Harvey Dunstone who has just violently escaped from prison, after killing a warden. He breaks into the Dower House in search of a change of clothes and somewhere to hide.

After interval, the second play is called Committed, a comedy by James Cooke and directed by Clare Hoogervorst. The cast includes Pauline Staff, Neville Tucker, David Andrews, Carol Ramsden and Tanya Liesching. Having mistaken the term “swinging" for a dance class, Pam sends out invitations for an evening at her home but gets her dates wrong. The committee of the local am-dram group of which she is honorary secretary turns up instead but one of the swingers, who got his dates wrong too, has parked himself on Pam's bed.

Performances take place from May 28 to 30 and again from June 3 to 5 in the Pinetown Library Function Room - Thursday to Saturdays at 19h30 for supper with show at 20h00 (Sunday 18h30 with show at 19h00). Car guards are on duty in Park Lane.

Tickets R55 includes supper. There will be limited tickets available at the door for R30 per head without supper. Bookings and more information from Clare on 031 767 0244 or Edna on 031 705 1937.
