GEOFFREY SUTHERLAND TRILOGY (article first published : 2004-04-3)

Radio Today on 1485 am presents a radio adaptation of Just the Ticket by founder of Computicket, Percy Tucker. on his 50 plus years in SA theatre is broadcast on Sundays at 18h00, repeated on Thursdays at 11h30.

The big event of the 1989 countrywide was in Durban, where NAPAC (now the Playhouse Company) mounted a unique first. The brainchild of the then NAPAC musicals head, Geoffrey Sutherland, it comprised a trilogy of Broadway musicals played in repertory.

These included Sondheim's Sweeney Todd directed by Geoffrey Sutherland; Leonard Bernstein's Candide directed by Janice Honeyman, and Terrence Shank's production of Sweet Charity. On the final day of the season, all three musicals were presented as a one-day package.
