DANCE FORUM (article first published : 2005-04-30)

The Dance Forum discussion re the media and how they affect the performing arts that was scheduled for April 30, has been changed to take place on May 21 from 14h30 at the Dance Factory, Newtown, Johannesburg.

The debate will focus on why the media does not support the live arts industry in the way they did in the past. What has caused the decision to largely overlook the important new work that is being created? Why is there not much media coverage and how can we try and create a more supportive process?

While the discussion will focus on the contemporary dance industry, all arts practitioners and media persona are invited to join in.

The debate does not intend to invite any accusations or complaints; the main intention is to try and find a way to move forward in partnership with the media in a way that will be beneficial to all parties.
