NAKED LOVE @ THE CORNER CAFÉ (article first published : 2008-01-30)

Offering his third Durban-based Naked experience, David Gouldie teams up with Lliane Loots and her award-winning Flatfoot Dance Company to present this new edgy dining and performance encounter of delight!

Set in Durban’s latest trendy and laidback Corner Café on Brand Road, Naked Love is a complete sensual experience for those lucky enough to get hold of one of the limited tickets available. The evening begins with superb cuisine that includes a starter of Tuscan lentil tomato and potato soup. This is followed by a buffet of the food for which Anna and Judd of the Corner Café have become famous. Indulge your taste buds in the likes of brinjal, feta and sun-dried tomato tart, Thai carrot salad and chicken thighs marinated in honey lime and paprika. The evening ends off with chocolate truffle cake and coffee.

Flatfoot Dance Company will create an atmosphere where the sad, spicy, insane and salacious sides of love will be explored through intimate dance and text. Gouldie and Loots are no strangers to choreographic collaboration having both jointly received the KZN DanceLink best choreographic award for 2007 for their shared season of dance called Premonitions. Joining Flatfoot as a guest, Gouldie brings with him his own brand of excellence and humour in dance. Loots is more renowned for the political edge to her dance work but in Naked Love she and Gouldie both tackle the more spiritual side of evoking the many facets of love.

Naked Love has been especially crafted for the Corner Café, and is proud to feature – alongside the dancers – award-winning poet and actor Iain Robinson (aka Ewok) whose own brand of word rhyming promises to hold audiences spellbound.

Naked Love has performances on February 13, 15 and 16 at 18h30 for 19h00. Tickets R170 pp for three course meal and the show. A cash bar is available. Booking essential as limited tickets are available. Contact Clarell on 082 875 6065 or e-mail danger77@absamail.co.za

Flatfoot Dance Company’s work is supported by the National Arts Council of South Africa.
