DEATH OF PHILLIP LEE (article first published : 2007-09-30)

Adagio dancer Philip Lee (Venter) has passed away at the age of 44. Having previously enjoyed good health, he complained of feeling dizzy with pain in his left arm. He took himself to hospital but died of a stroke as he got there.

Phillip Lee attended UCT Ballet School, along with many well-known South African dancers and choreographers, including Durbanís Mark Hawkins. He used to work for Denise Britz many years ago in Durban at the Millionaire and Ruby Tuesday nightclubs and his long-term dance partner was Nesta Leach. He performed in several extravaganzas at Sun City before going onto the ships.

At the time of his death, Phillip was company manager for Jean Ann Ryan Productions, an organisation working out of Miami that puts shows onto ships, and was attached to the vessel Norwegian Dream as Crew Welfare Chairman.
