CHASING RAINBOWS (article first published : 2006-03-23)

Continuing the tradition of producing dance programmes for young people that is fun, participative and hugely entertaining – Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company presents Chasing Rainbows at the Catalina Theatre over the school holidays from April 2 to 15.

Inspired by the Blue Man Group, an International Musical Phenomenon, this production will be created by Fantastic Flying Fish Resident Choreographer David Gouldie. It will take young audiences on a journey of dance, music and mime addressing key issues of social tolerance and understanding of others. This interactive 35-minute programme celebrates the notion of the Rainbow Nation as it takes the audience on a journey of self discovery.

Youngsters will be encouraged to help create rhythm, take on characters and help drive the story, teaching them valuable lessons in a light-hearted, interactive way. This performance helps learners with problem solving and critical thinking. “Empowering our children is the best defence we can offer them,” says choreographer David Gouldie.

Chasing Rainbows is presented by Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Companies – one of the city’s most established, innovative, talented and respected dance companies. It features David Gouldie and Angela Lardant and has toured successfully to schools throughout KZN with great success.

Shows are at 11h00 daily (except Mondays) at Catalina Theatre on Wilson’s Wharf from April 2 to 15. Tickets R40 include a goodie bag and a boat ride. The show runs at 45 minutes with no interval.

Bookings through Liesl or Janice on 031 305 6889. For block booking discounts and charity fundraisers call Glenda on 031 305 7612.
