TEA WITH BUDDHA (article first published : 2003-10-21)

Tea with Buddha is a mini exhibition at re-store in Overport Drive that creates the mood of the Chinese tea ceremony and new beginnings.

Green tea and Chinese tea were always shared at the change of seasons and the start of a journey in ancient China and this exhibition celebrates spring and the new seoson.

Global travellers have always met in Teahouses to explore new places and have breathing space before meeting new horizons. This exhibition is aimed at the world traveller who loves to share old passions and new laugh-lines with nomads from all over the world.

Many South African ceramicists have influenced the tea-bowl paintings – including Nesta Nala, Anthony Shapiro, Paul de Jongh and Andrew Walford.

Re-store is situated at 36 Overport Drive on Durban’s Berea. More details from Sam Boylan on 031 207 5082.
