AAC EXHIBITIONS (article first published : 2003-08-13)

The African Art Centre is holding two exhibitions in August, both opening at 17h30 on August 13.

Master printmaker William Zulu will open an exhibition of linocut prints from a group of young artists in Grahamstown. Artists Sandile Goje, Vukile Teyise, Linga Diko and Daliwonga Ntshobodi explore images of contemporary life and culture with humour and sharp comment. Titles include Eating the old fashioned way, How can humans fly?, An unwelcome return and Think wise, think for the future.

This will be followed by the opening of the other exhibition which celebrates the craft of women and will be opened by Jannie van Heerden, researcher on basketry in KwaZulu Natal.

The exhibition comprises ilala palm and grass baskets made by Laurentia Dlamini, Beauty Ngxongo, Edna Ngxongo, Angelinah Masuku, Angel Mhlungu, Vinah Ndwandwe and Sibongele Xulu.
