CBI CRAFT WORKSHOP (article first published : 2002-07-20)

Crafters are invited to offer their decorative and utility products for home and garden to new markets.

CBI, the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries, is an agency operating since 1971 within the policy framework of the Netherlands Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Development Co-operation.

CBI is offering a three-day Export Marketing and Management Workshop for the handicraft sector for export to Europe. The purpose of this workshop is to inform companies in the sector about the possibilities, requirements, doís and donítís of exporting to the European Market. The workshop will be a combination of lectures, panel discussions, assignments and individual counselling sessions.

CBIís main objective is to contribute to the economic independence of a selected number of mainly lower and middle-income countries in, amongst others, Southern Africa by promoting the exports of goods and services from those countries to Western Europe. For more information visit www.cbi.nl

This informative workshop is meant for starting exporters from small and medium-sized companies (approximately between 25 and 500 employees) who have a realistic potential to become competitive on the EU-market within the coming two to three years.

In order to be able to fully understand the lectures and cases in the workshop the participants should have some experience in or knowledge of exports and international business.

The workshop will take place in the Balalaika Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg on July 29 and 30 with the individual counselling sessions on July 31 at the same location. The total cost per participant will amount to R500.

Those interested in taking part in this workshop, should request registration forms from Ms. Van Ast at the South-African Netherlands Chamber of Commerce via fax 011 883-5573, or e-mail marloes@sanec.co.za

The number of people that can attend is limited and replies will be honoured on a first-come, first-serve basis.
